♥ New Clan Member Tuesday ♥

by Christina on November 30, 2010

This list is going to be dedicated to the newest member of my extended family – Ariel Shane born today!

Today I Am Grateful For:

1: Family! How it grows ever onward and outward as each generation grows up.
2: Boys! Without boys no one would carry on a family name!
3: Girls! Though I don’t have one of my own, it’s always fun to see how adorable my cousins dress their girls!
4: Babies! They carry such innocence and hope in such a little precious package!
5: Toddlers! They remind us that the whole world is simply amazing if you look at it that way!
6: Children (not a toddler, not a tween)! They are very much a person unto themselves and are often not afraid to speak their minds! Their internal censor doesn’t rule them and in many ways that’s a blessing – it can help us remember to tell our internal censor to shut up more often!
7: Tweens! Watching them find their way between being true to who they are and fitting in with their friends, they can remind us that no matter what being true to ourselves is always the best payout in the end!
8: Teenagers! Some of them are a bit more sure of who they are regardless of what their peers say and yet they still hold the wonder of the world because they are finding their freedom in being able to work and drive and begin to define their own life even more – the world is simply what we make of it because that’s how we want to see it!
9: Adults (21 and up)! We all have so many lessons to learn from each other! From how to not take ourselves so seriously to sometimes needing to take life more serious.
10: Elders (anyone who is the age of your parents, grandparents, etc)! They have so much wisdom to teach us if we would really learn to sit and listen to them! Yes, times have changed in just a few short generations but the precious things they can teach us are not replaceable once they are lost to us!
11: Birthdays! I still remember having time for myself back on my 30th birthday and I did my own little ceremony – I sent up a wish for myself and 30 wishes for my family and friends! It felt so wonderful to have done that I’ve tried to do it on my birthday since.
12: Traditions! I still remember certain holiday traditions in my own immediate family growing up and it has been interesting melding traditions from my family with traditions from my husbands family to give our children something to remember.
13: Memories! With so many memories of mine disappearing lately, I am grateful for the ones I still have and the ones I know will never fade away!
14: Love! It’s the wonderful, blessed glue that holds us all together!
